Oxford Diplomatic Society

Founded in 2020, the Oxford Diplomatic Society is one of the University of Oxford’s largest and fastest-growing student organisations. Founded with the support of Senior Member Tom Fletcher CMG, the Society provides a platform for students to critically engage with pressing global geopolitical and strategic issues through a programme of speaker events, embassy and think tank visits, international delegations, and practical workshops.
In addition, our alumni have gone on to work for organisations including NATO, the Tony Blair Institute, and various governmental and intelligence bodies worldwide.
The Society also hosts a flagship Diplomatic Academy – a series of practical workshops focused on negotiation, public speaking, and diplomatic communication – culminating in a Model United Nations simulation.
In Michaelmas 2023, with generous sponsorship from the NATO Public Policy Division, we ran a lecture series and policy competition on the theme NATO: Fit for the Future? The Society prides itself on fostering both intellectual curiosity and professional development among the next generation of global leaders.
LDA is the link between the business and the diplomatic community globally
"...I duly wish there were more organisations in this country who put so much effort into developing relations within London's diplomatic community"
